Weekend Retreats

Held in the magical surroundings of the secret Radnor Hills in mid Wales with accommodation in the beautifully appointed Cwm Broadwell House and Barn www.radnorhillsholidaycottages.com our weekend retreats provide the opportunity to unwind from your day to day schedule and take time to focus on your pregnancy and birth.
Fully inclusive with delicious organic vegetarian food, the retreats offer preparation for parenthood not currently available on the NHS! Combining structured sessions to prepare you for labour, birth and parenthood, the retreats also allow time for reflecting, chatting, walks, (not too hot) hot tubs, feasting and resting.
All Heaven and Birth courses and retreats are run by experienced midwives who will be available throughout the course for you to discuss any specific concerns or issues you may have about your pregnancy or birth. We also have an extensive library of inspiring and informative literature for you to use during the retreat.
The weekend retreats start at 5pm on Friday and finish at 4.30pm on Sunday afternoon.
There is the option to stay for a further night at a cost of £65 per person (including evening meal and breakfast). Therapists are available on the Sunday evening for you to pamper yourself with a massage, cranio-sacral treatment, Dr Haushker beauty treatment or have a belly cast made of your blossoming belly for you to take home. (One treatment available per booking, prices and details available with bookings.)

Dreaming of My Baby – a retreat for pregnant women
This weekend retreat provides the space to return to the ancient circle of women’s wisdom. Within a small group of other pregnant women, supported by experienced midwives you will have the chance to take time out from the demands of daily life… Slow right down and focus inwards, connecting more fully with yourself and tuning in with your growing baby.
Through a gentle mix of creative mediums including meditation, bodywork, birth art, music and ritual the retreat will also give you the opportunity to:
- Explore hopes and fears about pregnancy and birth
- Celebrate the incredible changes that are happening in your body and your life
- Explore your unique and special relationship with your baby
- Decorate or make a belly cast of your pregnant belly

We will also cover all the ‘basics’ including:
- physiological process of pregnancy and birth
- embracing unwished for events
- what to do in early labour/active labour
- welcoming your baby

This retreat is for all pregnant women at whatever stage of pregnancy; even treat yourself twice, once at the start of your pregnancy and again nearer the birth. Come prepared to meet yourself, your baby and a group of lovely pregnant women!

Two Become Three – a retreat for expectant couples
Once you are expecting a child you embark on a journey into the unknown. It can be a time of great excitement tinged with anticipation and sometimes fear. Birth is always unique but need not be a fearful unknown; it is in fact familiar territory. We know deep in our DNA how to give birth and how to parent just as we know how to make love when we conceive our children. This is our ancestral birthright and there are many men and women who have made the journey before us.
The Two Become Three retreat provides space to let go of the fear, negativity, anxiety, despair and materialism that so often surrounds pregnancy, birth and parenting and opens the way to prepare for birth and our new roles as parents with open and trusting hearts.
We will explore the themes of

There will be space for both expectant parents to deeply prepare for the life-changing initiation of birth. It is ideal for first time parents but equally valid if you are expecting a second, third or fourth child, especially if you do not feel that you have been able to honour the full meaning of what it is to step into the space of parenthood.
You will be able to explore the sacredness of this life-changing journey within the small group at the retreat and more intimately with your partner as well as having time to look at the significance of this rite of passage for us as men and women within the supportive atmosphere of a single sex space.
After a time of coming together, sharing and meditation on the Friday the women will spend Saturday with Emily and Lizzie exploring the landscape of labour and birth moving into motherhood. We will journey within our bodies, explore nature, use gentle movement, song, art and guided meditation and explore the deeper purpose of our relationship with our unborn child. The men will spend the day with Nick Clements preparing for an evening sweat lodge which will begin the process of opening the portal of fatherhood.
On Sunday we will share our stories, insights and wisdom. There will be time for an informal session looking at how to create a positive birth environment (internally and externally!) before we co-create our closing ritual to celebrate and mark stepping into this new phase of your lives.
Birth is the ultimate expression of creativity; the coming together of the male and female energies of life. Through support from your companions on the retreat and the team of experienced facilitators the Two Become Three retreat creates an alchemical stirring as we prepare for the arrival of a new third energy; the birth of your child.
